Why Hypnosis?

Hypnosis seems strange, why do hypnosis?

We have two parts to our mind, the conscious and the unconscious. Our unconscious mind actually controls our behaviors and performance far more than our conscious mind; studies suggest that it controls up to 90% of our behavior. Coaching alone tends to focus on the conscious mind which doesn’t give much attention to the unconscious mind. But the great thing is that hypnosis speaks directly to the unconscious mind. The beauty of working with me is that we get your conscious and unconscious mind working together, in flow.

Working with me allows you to get the benefits of both coaching and hypnosis. Hypnosis is a lot like mindfulness, meditation, and guided imagery journeys. For most people it feels very relaxing. For many of my client’s it’s their favorite part of their week, because it’s a moment where they are able to slow down, relax, and give themselves the gift of mental clarity, increased comfort, and just feeling good.

Many people may think hypnosis is strange or weird. But that is because they are thinking about stage hypnosis; not therapeutic hypnosis. They are not the same thing.

What is therapeutic hypnosis?

So that it seems less scary, lets discuss what therapeutic hypnosis is….

Hypnosis is a natural state of awareness and increased relaxation that allows for improved focus and concentration. In fact, we all experience hypnosis multiple times, every day.

One example is when we are watching a movie and we become completely enmeshed with what’s happening in the movie, to the point where we may begin to cry. We know the movie’s not real, but the mind is responding physically to things it creates mentally.

Another example is when you are driving your car and your mind drifts somewhere else and you can’t remember how you arrived at your destination. Who was driving the car?

Despite what some may think, hypnosis is not an altered state of consciousness. During the day, our brain functions ONLY in one of four activity levels. There is no other place for your brain to go, EVER.

BETA represents normal daytime consciousness, critical thought level.

ALPHA represents relaxation level, beginning to wake in the morning and crossing over into sleep at night.

THETAis the early stages of sleep, deep daydreaming state.

DELTA is deep sleep, dream state.

Hypnosis often occurs in the mid-Alpha range, and even though you are in hypnosis, you remain fully conscious of everything that is going on, and if you wanted to, you could open your eyes, but most people feel so comfortable and relaxed, that they choose to keep their eyes closed.

Many clients report an energizing experience of intense concentration and focus. Clients cannot be compelled to do or say anything in hypnosis that is in conflict with their personal desires or ethical standards. Hypnosis is a state of guided focus, concentration and relaxation. Clients are active participants in the process and can even leave the hypnotic state if they desire. It is impossible to be stuck in the state of hypnosis as all trances end, whether formally ended by the hypnotherapist or ended naturally by you. Many clients report that being in hypnosis feels like profound physical and mental relaxation that is both refreshing and revitalizing.

Another reason I incorporate hypnosis into my sessions is because I believe in not being afraid. Fear is often what holds us back from unlocking our highest potential. Why limit the tools we have to achieve our goals? Is hypnosis the only thing I do? No, I do much more— but I’m not afraid to say the word hypnosis because I know just how powerful it is, and I encourage you to not be afraid of hypnosis either.

Hypnosis has been studied by professionals, doctors, and scientists and time and again, the results show that hypnosis works… it significantly helps people… its powerful stuff. It’s also easy and simple for clients to experience because we all naturally go in and out of hypnosis every day.

So, let’s not run from it, let’s lean in to what works. Oh, and by the way, all hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. I’m just here to help you find your way and stay the course, but you are the one doing it to yourself. You have all the power, and you are in complete control.

There is a natural part of the unconscious mind that is designed to resist growth or change, and hypnosis helps us gently get past that.

Together we use hypnosis to grow your power from within. I help you achieve your dreams.
